Foundations

I've been helping clients reimagine their brand identity and visual communication since 2005.

I began studying graphic design in 2002 during my first year of university. I received a Bachelor of Science in Art with an emphasis in Digital Media. As an Art major, I studied fine art, art history, photography and graphic design. This allowed me to broaden my knowledge in the foundations of design and cultivate my skills as a modern designer. Since my foundation as a designer is in fine art and illustration, I am able to go beyond designing a nice layout–I create works of art. My ability to create illustrations are most noticeable in my logo designs. In print marketing, I make each design multi-dimensional through the use of layers, textures and light–a skill I originally developed through photography and fine art.

Focus on Quality

I am inherently a perfectionist–a trait that was passed down to me from my mother who was an art teacher. I will never deliver a product that I didn’t give my all to. I am a “details person”. I will continually comb through the design, looking for flaws and finding ways to make it just a little bit better.

The Process

Listening to the client is the starting point of every new project. When I am meeting with new clients, I start out by asking specific questions about their history, who they are, where they want to go as a business, who their target audience is, who their competitors are, what their goals are for their print and online marketing and if they have a vision for how they would like this project to take shape. From there we will spend some time brainstorming together. As the design process proceeds, I will communicate closely with the client and establish clear milestones and deadlines. As the project develops, the client will receive several “comps” (compilations) of the design and we will work together to refine it–ensuring that the client is a part of the process from beginning to end. This gives the client the feeling of ownership and pride in the product we created together.

About Me

I was born and raised in Nampa, Idaho and moved to the greater Chicago area after I graduated from high school in 2002. I started doing graphic design professionally during my senior year at university. After earning my Bachelor’s Degree I married my college sweetheart and moved to Surrey, British Columbia, Canada near Vancouver. I started my design business and expanded my network of clientele from the US to Canada. After living in Surrey for 4 years, we moved to a small town called Hope located in the Coastal Mountains of B.C. It was during this time that I really focussed on the business side of my passion as a designer and built a successful graphic design business–surpassing my own personal business goals. While I began my business in B.C., my husband Andrew and I also began a family. We have two boys: Samuel (born in 2012) and Rees (born in 2016). In 2017 we left the beautiful community that had become our home for more than a decade and moved to another beautiful community in El Paso, Texas–we love it here!
